What you need to know about sound systems.
- Open the box and pull out the mixer and its power cord and plug the mixer into the wall outlet.
- Remove the microphone from the box, connect XLR Female End to the microphone and plug the ¼ inch stereo end of the cable into the channel 1 port.
- Take the ⅛ inch (aux end) to ¼ in stereo cable and plug the aux end into the cell phone or laptop. The stereo end will be plugged into the 3 / 4 port of the mixer.
- The red cable is always the left side, and the right side will be another color.
- Get your Dual ¼ inch stereo cable to XLR or RCA (this will depend)
- The dual ¼ in side will be plugged into the main out on the mixer, red being on the left and right being the other color. The other end of the cable will go into the house system at your venue. The location of that plug will change depending on the venue.
- Turn on the power on the mixer and check sound levels. Left most slider controls mic volume. The 3 / 4 level knob controls the music volume and the right red slider controls the main volume. Make sure all high and low level knobs are set at 0.
- Make sure all FX Knobs are at 0 and all pan knobs are at 12 o'clock. Adjust gain to modify signal strength.
- If you need to use Bluetooth for sound, click mode until the screen shows BT, open the settings on your phone or laptop and select Bluetooth and then connect to KG-PSM.
Pyle PA
The Basic Parts
There are a few basic components of the Pyle PA System
- Power cable
- Microphone cable
- Microphone
- The PA itself
The Power Cable
This is exactly what you think it is! Depending on the style of Pyle PA you have, the charging cable will look different. Most Pyle PAs can be used while not being plugged in, but if you have the opportunity to plug it in, you should! Don’t count on the battery still being charged just in case it hasn’t been charged since the last game!
Microphone Cable
Depending on what kind of microphone you have you’ll have a different kind of microphone cable (unless you’re using a wireless microphone of course). There is most likely only one place for it to plug in on the PA and it’s labeled something like “Mic In” and is next to the mic volume knob.
Microphone
The microphone will either be wired or wireless depending on the location. (If you’re using a wireless mic please make sure that you have it charged/ have batteries!) There are some mics that are just on as soon as you plug them in and others have an on/off switch on the side of it. But they are fairly straightforward and easy to use.
The PA
This is the big ole speaker-looking thing! The PA is what plays your music and projects your lovely voice so that everyone can hear you! The Pyle PA can use an auxiliary cord to connect your music or you can use Bluetooth to connect your device! Whatever your preference is!
All Set Up!
Here is an example of what the Pyle should look like when it’s all set up and ready to go for the night!
Connecting Bluetooth
The Bluetooth function is the preferred connection method for most Quizmasters and it’s fairly straightforward. No matter what model of Pyle you’re using, when you turn on the PA it will most likely say “Line”. You’re going to want to change the mode to Bluetooth instead. Depending on the model of Pyle that you’re using it’s most likely a button that says “MODE” or two arrows, one on top of the other, pointing in opposite directions.
Once the LED screen says that you’re in Bluetooth mode, pair the device that you’re going to play music from to the PA. (It will most likely be the device labeled “PYLE”)

Troubleshooting
Sound not coming out?
A few things might be happening here
- Make sure that the power is turned on and all your cables are plugged all the way in
- Adjust your music with the master volume and/or the volume on your device. The volume will need to be adjusted on the master volume knob, the device you’re playing music from, and the mic volume as well (also make sure the mic is turned on every time you’re trying to make an announcement)
Feedback
Make sure that you and the microphone are not close to the PA and make sure that the volume isn’t set too high
The power indicator light isn’t on
Check that the power switch is turned on, and check if the battery is charged (you might have to plug it in)
Distorted sounds are coming out/ things don’t sound right
Most importantly, in all likelihood, your PA isn’t haunted. So don’t panic! Check the following:
- Is the volume too high?
- Are you outside? There might be excessive wind
- It might also be breath sounds and pops! If that’s the case, pull the mic away from your mouth a bit while you’re talking on it
- Adjust your input levels (treble and base levels will be different for everyone)
- Adjust the gain/echo
